Technical SEO foundations that outlast an algorithm update

Tactics change. Site architecture, one clear intent per page and honest markup have survived every update we have worked through.

When rankings stall, the advice on offer is usually more content. More often the problem is structural: pages competing with each other, templates emitting the wrong markup, and internal links that were never planned.

One intent per page

Every page should target one query family and one job. When three pages address the same intent, search engines pick one — often not the one you would choose — and the other two dilute your authority.

Consolidating overlapping pages and redirecting the weaker ones is unglamorous work that regularly outperforms months of new content.

Architecture a crawler can traverse

Important pages should sit within two or three clicks of the homepage, reachable through real links rather than only through search or a sitemap file.

Faceted navigation is the most common crawl-budget sink we find. Decide which filtered views deserve indexing and set canonicals deliberately for the rest.

Structured data that matches the page

Schema should describe what a visitor can actually see. FAQ markup on questions that are not on the page is a liability, not a shortcut to a rich result.

Implement schema in components rather than by hand per page, so correctness scales with the site instead of decaying as content grows.
